Workshops Summary

Workshop 1: Communication and Interpretation of Music Through Sounds and Colors

Music inspires art and art inspires music. Communication and interpretation of music through sounds and colors presents music in art through oil paintings of all musical periods based on research, performance, teaching and listening. Silence is the idée fixe in all paintings represented on canvas through the light, which changes the size and form depending on the development of each musical period. Music in colours focuses on the historical development of Western music, theoretical concepts and forms, and influences of cultures such as Ancient Greeks and Gypsies. Every line, shape and colour on these canvases have a meaning and visually describes the history and theory of music and its development. It demonstrates the different characteristics of each period such as tonality, tempo, rhythmic structure, chord progressions, styles and forms such as counterpoint, sonata form, call and response and their relation to colours. Communication and interpretation of music through sounds and colors enables us to visualize concepts, styles and structures of music and how different societies and countries developed Western music and influenced each other.
